Review: Shelby Rogers beats twice Winbledon Champion Petra Kvitova: Match Stats & Scoring History
  • Once a ball girl, the 23-year-old, ranked 108th in the world Shelby Rogers beats No. 10 seed, twice Winbledon Champion Petra Kvitova in the third round. She won 6-0 6-7(3) 6-0 to move into the last 16 of a Grand Slam for the first time of French Open.
  • It was a big moment for Shelby Rogers.”It’s pretty surreal. I’m obviously at a loss of words. It’s really exciting,” Rogers told reporters.
  • And at the same time it was a big shock for Petra and the rest of the world.”I felt just weird. I didn’t really sleep last night and it’s just difficult day today,” said 10th seed Kvitova, who last lost to a player ranked outside the top 100 in 2014. “I was feeling very tired and my legs were very heavy. Nothing really worked today. It’s one of my worst losses in a grand slam.”
  • In celebration of her victory, a tearful Rogers dropped her racket to the ground before she ran to the players’ box to embrace her parents, her agent, her coach and her boyfriend, as far as she had just achieved the biggest victory of her career in one of the greatest moments of her young life.
  • This moment is why I play. @rolandgarros @wilsontennis @asicstennis
