  • The Stuttgart Open has always been played outdoors. Since 1916 up to and including 2014 it was played on clay. Having a promising start in the grass court era in 2015, the 2016 Mercedes Tennis Tournament will be held from June 4 to 12, being part of a grass court series leading into Wimbledon.
  • Moved to grass-courts, the event is now staged in the week after Roland Garros finishes.
  • Early 2016 Wimbledon Predictions

Of course it’s difficult to predict results of tournaments beforehand, but players’ health and their Post-French Open performance offers some indication of how they might compete at Wimbledon.Despite the contrasting conditions of grass and clay courts, expectations for players at Wimbledon often change based on what happens at the French Open.

A new grass-court event, the WTA Tour’s inaugural Mallorca Open, promoted Ana Ivanovic over Garbine Muguruza of Spain before Roland Garros. Visit the tournament’s site today, and it’s all about newly crowned French Open champion Muguruza.

After defeating Serena Williams to capture Roland Garros, the Spaniard is now ranked No. 2 and suddenly in the chase for No. 1. Court surfaces aside, the finalists at this year’s French Open provide a perfect segue into early predictions for Wimbledon. Like Williams and Muguruza, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray are ranked No. 1 and No.2, respectively.

Could we see rematches of the French Open in both finals at Wimbledon?

Roger Federer Kicks Off Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart

Roger, who has not been competing since Rome last month, will play the ATP 500 Halle the following week as well, before playing Wimbledon that will start on the 27th of June.

This year Roger’s played the Brisbane Open, where he lost in the final to Milos Raonic and the Australian Open, where the world no. 1 Novak Djokovic defeated him in the semi-finals.He was then forced to miss around 10 weeks of action because of an unexpected knee injury and follow-up surgery. He returned in Monte Carlo, where he reached the quarter-finals before losing to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Three weeks ago, he was beaten by Dominic Thiem in the third round, in Rome. This year, he withdrew from Rotterdam, Dubai, Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid and Roland Garros.

Anyway, Federer is back and looks for the healthy and positive Stuttgart Open Final.
