In spite of cancelling tennis matches, the tournament directors should have remembered the 2014 French Open and announced Dance Battles under the rain, as Gael Monfils and Laurent Lokoli once DID.
Head to head: Monfils took on compatriot Laurent Lokoli on the main Philippe Chatrier Court
The red clay courts of Roland Garros are known for long rallies and marathon matches and they normally see great tennis battles and the athletes talking smack about their opponents before a big match, but during 2014 year’s French Open Kids’ Day, one of those courts turned into a different kind of stage. With French DJ Bob Sinclair bumping Lil Jon and DJ Snake’s “Turn Down For What” from the speakers, French tennis stars, Gael Monfils and Laurent Lokoli, turned what could’ve been a boring rain delay into an awesome dance party.
Monfils showed off his acrobatic side…
…before Lokoli responded by doing the robot.
Who knew tennis stars were so agile?

Even the torrential rain failed to dampen the spirits of the crowd who were wowed by the moves of Monfils and Lokoli.
All smiles: Gael Monfils was the star of the show, as usual)
Caught on film: French DJ Bob Sinclar – who provided the soundtrack for the event – was impressed, using his camera phone to film the action.
In such an old fashioned way – Epic Dance-Off they managed to brighten the mood of the capacity crowd really much!
In our opinion, there is definitely a clear winner when the dust settles, but watch for yourself and tell us which athlete could have a fallback career as a backup dancer.
