Started playing tennis at age 3 with father. He owes the career to impatient father, who couldn't listen to persistent 3-year-old Martin tapping at the bedroom
door with black plastic rocket and foam ball. One day, when the tapping was really irritating, his father took him out to the court in front of their house and there Martin started to fire his first real balls without endangering the bedroom door and other household members."
Karolina,also a tennis player was his girlfriend for three years.
In 2015 Martin & Karolina became best male and female Tennis Players of the Year in Slovakia.
First success in tennis was European Championship in singles and doubles with Andrej Martin. This wass when he thought he could be a tennis pro. Checking the list of previous winners including Mats Wilander and Stefan Edberg he thought him to be the next one
The US Open appearance gave him more confidence on the hard court; before it was low and he lost matches too easily.
In 2006 his Roland Garros singles title came.
2012 season gave his career new speed. He kicked out Jo-Wilfried Tsonga from US Open, where he reached the fourth round.
